Johann Christian Ludwig Schneider (son of Joseph Schneider and Ludoriea Barbara Kuhn) was born April 27, 1797 in Marbach, Stuttgart, Germany, and died April 18, 1867 in Comburg, Schwaeb, Germany. He married (1) Wilhemine Ernstine Schneider on Bef. 1819, daughter of Johann Georg Schneider. He married (2) Catherine Juliana Wilhemine Schneider on Aft. 1839 in Germany.

He was 69 years 11 months and 22 days old.

He was the second child. He enlisted voluntarily May 11, 1811 at the age of 14 in the second Royal Wuertemberg Infantry Regiment and was confirmed in his uniform. Under the existint poltical conditions. He took part in the campaigns for freedom (1812) first under Nopoleon I of France, taking part in the march to Moscow as a drummer boy, since he was to young to carry a musket. He returned with the remains of his regiment.
He also took part in the campaign against France in 1815-16 as a drummer and acting Quartermaster of his company. Sept 1, 1816, he was advanced to the rank of Quarter-Master, (fourier), and Mar 6, 1823 to First Lieutenant. Feb. 27, 1832 by royal decree he received the officer's Portopee: on Sep 26, 1833 the Second Class Military Service Medal: Feb 6,1837, appointed Provost of his regiment. Sep 6,1840 he received the Active Service Medal and on Sep 26, 1850, the Silver Civil service Honnor Medal.
On May 31, 1851, he was given the Miltary Service Medal. First Class on the return of the Second Class Medal of 1833; Jun 30, 1853 the Royal Austrian Silver Courage Medal and Jun 19, 1857, the Royal Russian St. Georges Cross, Fifth Class.
He served with his regiment over 50 years and advanced in rank to Power Inspector, Barracks-Manager, with the rank of Provost and later to First Lieutenant. Being wounded, he was pensioned and on Mar 7, 1866 was attached to the 'Ehren-Invaliden-Corps' (Honor Retired Corps) at Comburg, near Schwaeb Gall where he died. He is buried in the Military cemetery where his grave may still be located.
