Amanda Birtha Birr on September 19,
1883 in Kankakee, Kankakee Co, IL, daughter
of Heinrich
August Birr and Ernistine
Wilhelmine Henriette Kurrasch. He married
(2) Augusta Schommburg on September 11,
1922. He married (3) Augusta Kelle on April
26, 1928 in Roseland IL.

Albert Schneider, for many years engaged
in the fire insurance business, also secretary
of the Kankakee Building and Loan Association
since March 1, 1894 and a director of the
Eastern IL Trust & Savings Bank.
He was prominently identified with the affairs
of this city and was known as a public-spirited
and industrious citizen.
At about Eight years of age when he came
with his parents to Kankakee, Albert was
educated in its public schools, and began
his business career in his fathers insurance
office.
September 19, 1883 he married Birtha Birr,
A native of Germany, And daughter of Henry
and Minna (Kurrasch) Birr, who moved with
their family from the Fatherland in 1870,
and the latter of whom still is a resident
of Kankakee.
Mr. and Mrs. Schneider have three children.
Walter, Frank Otto, William A. Walter Law
student at the University of WI; Frank &
William are students at high school in Kankakee.
The family are members of the United Evangelical
St. Johns Church of Kankakee. Mr. Schneider
is a member of the Blue Lodge, Chapter,
commandery and Nobles of the Mystic Shrine,
A. F. and A.M.; and Modern Woodman of America.
On May 23, 1892 was duly appointed as Assistant
Chief of Fire Department of Kankakee.
OBITUARY:
Kankakee lost one
of its best known, highly esteemed, and
respected citizens Sat, in the passing of
Albert Schneider who died at his home 730
S. Greenwood Ave. of the infirmities of
old age. Born Aug. 5, 1860 in Newark, NJ,
the son of Charles and Mary (Hahn) Schneider,
he came to Kankakee with his parents at
the age of eight years and has resided here
continously since that time. For over fifty
years he was active in the business life
of this city as the senior partner of the
Albert Schneider and Sons Insurance Agency
and as secretary and director of the Kankakee
Federal Savings and Loan Association.
His engerget leadership and trust inspiring
personality endeared him to the thousands
of members of the Savings & Loan Association
and resulated in its steady growth from
a small institution when he took over the
secretaryship in 1894 to one of the largest
and best known associations in the state.
He took a great and justifiable pride in
its progress and in the part of the association
played in the growth and development of
the city. He was one of the pioneers in
the work of securing legislation which simplified
and reduced the cost of Building and Loan
membership, and thousands of Kankakeeans
were grateful to him for the encouragement
and help his efforts and advice gave them
in saving for and becoming the onwers of
their own homes. He enjoyed and merited
the universal confidence and esteem of his
fellow citizens.
Mr Schneider was married Sep. 19, 1883 to
Bertha Birr, who died Nov. 30, 1918. Of
this marriage three sons were born, Walter
C. Schneider, Frank O. Schneider and William
A. Schneider. One of these, Frank, died
Nov 29, 1943.
On Sep 11, 1922 he married to Augusta Kelle,
who survives. He is also Survived by eight
grandsons, five great grands, five great
granddaughters, his brothers Fred L. Schneider
of Kankakee, Charles Schneider of Milwaukee,
and two sisters Mrs. Marie Allen of Jackson,
MI, and Mrs. Pauline Miller of Milwaukee.
Mr. Schneider was a member of the Kankakee
Lodge #389 A F and A M, Ivanhoe Commandry,
Medinah Temple.
Funeral services will be held at the Rehr,
Jones and Kaiser Funeral Parlors tuesday
afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. Langhorst
officating. Friends may call at the funeral
parlors this evening and until the hour
of the services.

Funeral services for Albert Schneider 86
one of Kankakee's most best known and highly
esteemed citizens died Saturday, will be
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rehr, Jones and
Kaiser with the Rev. Victor E. Langhorst,
pastor of St. John Evangelical and Reformed
church, officaiating and interment in Mound
Grove cemetery.
Mr. Schneider, who succumbed to infirmities
of advanced age at his home, 730 S. Greenwood
avenue, was active in the business life
of this city for more than 50 years as the
senior partner in the Albert Schneider and
Sons Insurance agency and as secretary and
director of the Kankakee Federal Savings
and Loan association. He had been in retirement
about two years.
Lived Here 78 Years
A resident of this city for 78 years, he
took pride in its growth and development
from a mud-bound whiltle stop on the IC
railroad during the Civil war era to a thriving
industrial and agricultural community composed
redominantly of home owners.
He enjoyed the confidence of thousands of
Kankakeeans for encouragment and advice
given them in savings for and becoming owners
of their own homes. He was one of the pioneers
in the work of securing legislation which
simplified and reduced the cost of building
and loan membership.
His energetic leadership and trustinspiring
personality endeared him it the thousands
of membersof the Savings and Loan association
which he headed for many years. This resulted
in its steady growth from a small institution
when he took over the secretaryship in 1894
to one of the largest and best known associations
in the state.
Native of New Jersey
Albert Schneider was born Aug. 5, 1860 in
Newark, N.J., the son of Charles and Mary
Hann Schneider, came to Kankakee with his
parents in 1868 and had resided here since.
He was Married Sept. 19, 1883 to Bertha
Birr of Kankakee who died in 1918. On Sept.
11, 1922 he was married to Augusta Schommburg.

HEIRS TO GET $50,000
An estate value at $50,000 will be shared
by the widow, two sons and two grandsons
of Albert Schneider, Kankakee insurance
company founder, who died Dec. 28, according
to a petition filed yesterday in Probate
court for protesting will. The estate consised
of $40,000 in personal property and 10,000
in real estate.
Because his wife, Auguste Kelle Schneider,
was provided for in an antinuptial agreement,
the will states, she is to receive only
the household goods.
The rest of the estate goes to two sons,
Walter C. 956 S. Wildwood Ave; William A.,
782 Calista, and to the two sons of the
late Frank O. Schneider. They are Glenn,
496 S. Nelson Ave, and Donald R. 972 S.
Poplar Ave.
A proviso of the bequests is that each of
the three sons (Frank was living) pay their
mother $50 annually for as long as she remains
unmarried. The son, Walter, was named executor.
